Review Blitz: Sex in the Sticks by Sawyer Bennett

A Love Hurts Novel

Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.

Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

Bennett has been a favourite of mine for a while despite not keeping up to date with her books. She writes steamy stories with some heat and substance.

So when I saw that had a new series with Loveswept coming out, I knew it was the perfect timing as Bennett got a certain flair that I don’t find in other books. She has a style that keep readers coming back to her and I was determined not to let another of her books be added to  my overwhelming TBR.

Love in the Stick is the typical Bennett  book we  have come to love from her.  I love the juxtaposition she has with this novel.  A trust fund girl trying to find a real  humble  all American man . As  Valetine maybe one of those Frenchs but she beats to her own drum. She happily take the perks but when it comes to her job and love life it a different story.

It  is open book to the public as a  dating columnist and her family isn’t  too please. Val doesn’t care as it best of both worlds. But something missing in her life, she sick of the metrosexuals in New York. She isn’t that picky right.  She just wants a guy she can have a real conversation with and not worried about 400 dollar  hair cut

So with a hair brain scheme thank to dear cousin Jeremy.  Val is heading off to Alaska where she can find the all American guy and enjoy the best of what Alaska has to offer.  Plenty fuel for her column and she gets to scratch the itch.

However Alaska isn’t exactly the Ritz and Val is a rare commodity to the town where men a dozen and  the nearest designer shop is hundreds of miles away.   Having sex in the Sticks may be easy but  Val isn’t ready for what in store.  Especially for Mr Right aka Sheriff Logan Burke a city boy turned  small town boy who  knows what Val wants exactly but has no clue  what Val really there for  .

Plenty of laughs and funs but it just all fun and games ? As Logan  isn’t going to settle being another of Val’s dates. He wants more  like any true All American man .

Only if Vale will see  past the surface and realise that  the Podunk town she has ended up in. Might be  the best decision of her life and allow Logan to get what he wished for

I love the set up for this novel and it didn’t disappoint. It was everything I expected from a Benettt novel.  Her hockey stories where the stories  that won me over like many others. She one of the first hockey romance authors that  I read and I still love the Cold Fury team. However this light fun cotemporary romance hit all the right spot and stole my love in an instant. I devoured this novel to the point pure tiredness.  I was up at 2am with a smile on face . Grinning as I  watch Val fall for Logan and vice verse. I loved having older characters and honestly still I found this novel so relatable and fun

They were  meant  to be but then they were  so miss matched causing some problems that gave plenty of moments . It wasn’t over the top . It was the perfect juxtaposition with this novel.  Bennett knows what readers and her latest won’t disappoint readers.

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
