After a messy breakup with a lying ex, English teacher Mercy Jones swore off men, especially the edgy ones. Safe, stable and comfy. Those are her catch words for a perfect partner. So why does the new substitute history teacher have to be dangerous, raw, and challenging—on every level? His uncompromising masculinity and questioning mind captivate Mercy, tempting her to risk her heart.

Detective Aidan Shaw is a cynical bastard, trusting nobody outside his family and fellow cops. But when working undercover to eradicate a high school drug network, Aidan meets an intelligent, feisty blonde with knock-out curves. Mercy’s warmth and generous spirit awaken a part of him buried deep for too long.

But how can Aidan remain undercover and not betray the woman he’s come to cherish? As he closes in on the criminals manipulating innocents for profit, the stakes grow ever higher—with deadly consequences.

If I didn’t think this story could get any better it did. I enjoyed Aiden’s and Mercy’s story when it first came out as a contribution to  an anthology  late last year .  Now  released as separately. Archer has added a few thousand words to this book  and given everyone another reason to fall in love with  these two again . It is the perfect time to pick up this book and get introduced to her writing. This book is now the first in her Shaw series and a standalone  in terms of her books . However this book is also  related to her other  current series Sons of Justice where  the two make an appearance in book two  so if you want more of these two I advise you read that series in order as it crosses over.  However this romantic suspense is totally about these two and you will fall for this duo in a instance .

It’s a rather sweet romance if you think about it aside from the steam and the suspense angle. Both the characters are likeable people trying to do the best with their passions and abilities to make things better. Aiden is a cop who trying to keep the peace and all that jazz. He wants to protect the innocent and his latest assignment sees him going undercover at a local high school to solve a recent uprise in drug related incidents that has the police puzzled.  He is dedicated to finding out the truth despite the lies he is undertaking for the great good.  Even when it comes to lying to Mercy, the teacher he meets and is attracted to. As the risk is too great. He needs to protect and serve his community first, his love life is coming second like any good cop. Though sometimes you can have all and eat your cake as it seems Mercy is needing of his help and he is the perfect man for the job so to speak .

Mercy is a kind hearted woman who wants the best for her students.  She wants the best for them and won’t let them slip through the cracks. If only she could  find  her equal in a man. A guy who understands her instead of trying her less then her worth, but she been hurt and Aiden is the last guy she needs. She wants safe and simple . Not mysterious and intriguing. It can only end badly for her after her past. She doubts things but Aiden got other ideas on his mind. Quickly making his move to become part of the school community and make his presence known.  But when you have one finger in one world and the other in another. Things are going to heat up fast and soon custody isn’t going to be enough any more..

In His Custody, is romantic suspense at its finest . Weaved masterfully, Archer bring these characters again to life with this new version and doesn’t disappoint.  I loved that Archer is making a series about the Shaw brothers as these guys are intriguing as the Son of Justice men and I love there going to two set of stories in the same world now. Aiden is the typical sort of male character I associated with Archer , the strong alpha type and he was perfect for Mercy. She was a protector in her own way but needed some of her own kind. I loved reading the new additions and makes the book even better. Definitely worth a read
