A ruthless young assassin continues her journey for revenge in this new epic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Jay Kristoff.

Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church hierarchy think she’s far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she’s no closer to ending the men who destroyed her familia; in fact, she’s told directly that Consul Scaeva is off limits. But after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia suspicions about the Red Church’s true motives begin to grow.

When it’s announced that Scaeva will be making a rare public appearance at the conclusion of the grand games in Godsgrave, Mia defies the Church and sells herself to a gladiatorial collegium for a chance to finally end him. Upon the sands of the arena, Mia finds new allies, bitter rivals, and more questions about her strange affinity for the shadows. But as conspiracies unfold within the collegium walls, and the body count rises, Mia will be forced to choose between love and revenge, and uncover a secret that could change the very face of her world.

Set in the world of Nevernight, which Publishers Weekly called “absorbing in its complexity and bold in its bloodiness,” Godsgrave will continue to thrill and satisfy fantasy fans everywhere.

Earlier this year I read Nevernight and truly loved that book. It was easy of one of the best books of 2016 and I wished I had read it last year.  So I was eagerly waiting for the sequel because that ending .  You couldn’t  have  predicted what was to come after that epic book, you could only theorise  . There was many possilbities that ran through my head as wondered what was next for our favourite character  . So to say the least , Godsgrave  was binged over a few hours   once  it was in my hands.  As  who wouldn’t want more Mia and her epicenes or craziness how ever you like to describe her. She is everything and there isn’t anyone else out there like her in the fiction world. She is  everything you want in a heroine, yet she someone you don’t want to know . A total contradiction and that what makes Mia  very  unique.

You can’t imagine a world with Mia, once you have met her. She  is engraved into your brain and she won’t let you forget no matter what you do and think.  She knows how to make her presence known in any situation whether she  meant to   or not.  Her bluntness is unforgiving and not to be missed

So to state the obvious , Mia is back in a big way  and she is  up to her same old antics. Yet  she isn’t the same girl we met  Nevernight.  We have seen her grown and adapted as the  storyline unfolded in the last  book .  Therefore   this one is  no different  as she take on a new challenge and finds herself on the same journey she began in Nevernight with different mind set.

Godsgrave picks up on  those changes and leads us readers into a direction that will surprise you gentle readers.   I must admit I love how this book is formatted to include an important  insight at  the beginning of the book.   I love how Kristoff made sure to make sure his readers were up to speed and recap who is who from Nevernight.   If thought you had forgot any  details from Nevernight  well he has covered as once you start Godsgrave it is no going back.  You are going to be plunged into another epic book and it will never let up and let you take a breather . You will be with bated breath as you are surprised and maybe even confused whether that did  just happen.  All I can say is that I  liked the direction that Kristoff did take with this novel

It was unexpected but it was delicious dark goodness.  The blurb gives all you need to know this time around.  I could say plenty but readers will appreciate , knowing the least amount of information about Mia, Mister Kindly and the others.  It will be epic all I can say and be prepared for a roller coaster  read.

And to stay the least , Godsgrave slayed me. If I thought Nevernight was bad after thing end. Godsgave was a whole different level of pain.  Kristoff knows how to give us a world of  pain that you can’t get out of you wanted to try  .  I want the last book already, I can’t wait thinking about every last second of this book.  Yes there was a lot dropped us gentle readers but  this will top Nevernight in a very big way.

  1. that ending was SO painful! And I agree going in knowing nothing was the best, it went in a completely different way then I was expecting and i LOVED that XD Mia is such a baddass and just awesome character, this has got to be one of my all time fave fantasy series and I can’t believe we’re only getting 3 books?! I’d be so down for 7, maybe we’ll get some spin off series in the same world, who knows 😀

    Awesome review Tash <3

  2. This series is so incredibly epic Tash, I couldn’t agree more. The writing felt much more mature, more sinister if that was even possible and I preferred the romance in Godsgrave. It felt more genuine. The ending leaves you wanting more. I’m totally down for the bloodbath coming in book three. Great review Tash, really enjoyed it <3
