Friendship can be found in the unlikeliest of places. After her mother’s death, Sky leaves her city life to move in with her aunt and uncle in a small Australian town. Life in a new place isn’t easy, and Sky finds comfort in the friendship of a stray dog she meets along the way. But her new friends at school are another story, and as Sky struggles to fit in, she finds herself doing things that go against everything she believes in. When Sky stumbles on a case of animal cruelty, she is forced to question what’s really important to her and who she wants to be.

Sky is more than your typical cute contemporary novel. Sherman  shares her personal passions in this stirring Love Oz Ya novel about a girl who on the cusp of adulthood. At a crossroad Sky’s journey is one that may be   unfathomable for some but there is a real sense of connection and readers won’t be able to put it down.

The idea of the novel , is interesting . Sky is vegan and in her senior years of high school.  The perfect ideal  life she built for herself with her Mom is destroyed.

Her voice reflects this as we first meet her. She raw from the loss and the upheaval of what she deemed the perfect life. The only thing that holding together is obvious this blog and the mysterious Wild Rider who offers her a chance to escape her thoughts and vent. Her lifeline as she navigates life in the country town.

Sky isn’t a character that makes the best choices. Her  own raw grief and trying to navigates things means she looses her self along the way. It doesn’t help that there is forms of sabotage in this novel from well meaning people who make Sky retreat and forgot herself at times.

The author does address this in a number of ways and the behaviour may reflect the typical teen but Sherman has a point to get across. If you worried the issues discussed may be on the heavy side. Sherman has the right touch . Sky isn’t in your face when it comes to her beliefs she always put herself in situations here she forced to make a spilt decision and the results may not be popular.

Sky is a beautiful LoveOz Ya novel  book exploring life and it’s up’s and down’s in a very teen way. It’s not perfect but the authenticity shine through the novel. Her next chapter will be interesting and readers will be eager to see how she fairs after this chapter of new life.
