Top Ten New To Me Authors I Read In 2017 – Top Ten Tuesday

There were quite a few gems I discovered in 2017 and I definitely hopefully will be reading more books by these authors this year.

If you want to join in, stop by Broke and Bookish for more details .

And in no particular order

A quirky debut that surprised me. Townsend’s whimsical Middle Grade novel is one for all ages and I can’t wait for the second book this year. If you love Alice in Wonderland, this is the book for you . You will love the zany world that Townsend has created. The Wondorous Society awaits you   Read my review here

I finally read my first Schwab book this year and I wasn’t disappointed overall. This Savage Song was amazing and Our Dark Duet was nearly as good.  Definitely planning to read more of her books this year  as the long awaited sequel to Vicious comes out . Read my thoughts here

I can’t recommend this series enough and have gotten a couple of friends hooked this series. If you are fan of Caraval or Daughter of the Burning City. You will love Cat , Griffin and the gang.  Cat is a firecrakcer of a heroine and

the third and final instalment in this trilogy is out this month. Read my thoughts here

Until I was asked to take part in the tour for the second book Corpselight. Vigil had sat unread on my shelves as a book never gotten around to reading in 2016. Well I regretted that as Verity was my sort of gal.  A Urban Fantasy set in an alternative Brisbane, dectective Verity is a person that you dont’ want to mess with and the case she is on is a dozy.  Total left field  choice considering that is co -written with a ghost writter but this book surprised me. There probably could have been other books I could have included on  here that I enjoyed more . However Delevingne and her co-writer tackled some tough issues well. Read my review here

I just need the third book nowwwwwwwwwwwwww. Fantasy has been a big hit for me this year and I can’t go with out saying this one of my favourite new to me this year. Blakes’ debut Frostbood was good but Fireblood was even better. Now I have to wait like everyone else for third book NightBlood . Read my review here

A lot of my top new to me authors were debut authors as you can see so far and it would be amiss not to included this book. THUG was a book that changed the game.  It was book that was  provocative   and  made everyone take notice.  Read my review here

When Dimple Meet Rishi,  this would  have been easily included in my top faves for this year if I remembered it at the time. Whilst I still haven’t posted my review yet , this cute contemporary was every South Asian dream rep and I loved this book to pieces. She addressed an issue that I haven’t seen much from an Asian perspective and I loved her take on things.

When West reached out to me , asking to read this book. I accepted in a heartbeat because I love a good rockstar book and there was second chance in this story. Well this debut blew me away and I loved the second novel as well. Well written and a beautiful story Warren and Addy. Read my review here

Last but not least. Queens of Geek. There has a been a few Love OzYA releases that I have read and enjoyed this year. However this was special. An own voice novel that seamlessly blend two stories set at a  contention and I can’t wait to see what else she writes.

    1. That’s too bad. I can see why you did . It’s not for everyone the prose of Mirror Mirror. Glad you loved THUG as well!

  2. I have yet to read a Schwab book! I have a couple of her books and really need to do so this year. Not sure where I’ll start but it sounds like I can’y go wrong no matter what I choose. I also discovered The Kingmaker trilogy in 2017 too. Looking forward to the conclusion. 🙂

  3. I cannot wait for more Elly Blake 😀 I love Frostblood. I still need to read Fireblood, but I’m hoping to just binge read the whole series when Nightblood comes out this spring.
I came across Nevermoor in the store this morning and almost bought it for the cover alone. Now I think I need to go back and get it. Love Wonderland 😀
